Meet Jason Morris
AA is adding a new member to the Upper School faculty this fall: Jason Morris. Morris will be teaching Bible and religion courses to Upper School students and coaching varsity volleyball. This is a new venture for Morris, who is a former Capital One manager.
Morris is well qualified for this new role. Since leaving Cap One in the summer of 2016, he has spent his time “in the Bible”. He was baptized on Easter Sunday, 2016, and says he spent this last year on a sabbatical with the Lord. He calls this time his “Advent” period during which he has studied the Bible and grown in his faith.
In his AA Bible classes, he plans to teach a unique curriculum for each grade and class. Morris also brings a well-developed passion for coaching volleyball to AA. Over the past 25 years, he has played with regional and national teams, on sand and grass. He has coached other youth sports including basketball and football.
About his playing philosophy, he says, “We are here to represent the school in sportsmanship. We don’t want to be out-hustled.”
When he met with the volleyball team, he reiterated these points and added, “We can be as good as we want to be. If we give it our best, everything else will take care of itself.”
Morris lives in Amelia with his wife, Mary Margaret, and children. They attend Love Covenant Church. Like many faculty members, his children attend the Academy. His son, Cameron, is a rising seventh grader and was baptized this past Easter. His step-daughter, Willow, is a rising first grader.
