Valedictorian and Salutatorian Announced at Amelia Academy

2018, May 1 – Valedictorian at Amelia Academy for the class of 2018 is Emily Paige M. As a student at Amelia Academy, Emily has served with distinction in many organizations. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club, and is serving as treasurer for the senior class this year. Emily has been a member of the Academy’s scholastic bowl team and was among the students representing the Academy at the Model United Nations program. She has participated in performing arts programs at the Academy, including the Cabaret, Veteran’s Program, and last December’s “Charlie Brown Christmas” production. She has been manager of the volleyball and basketball teams. Emily is, or has been, a member of the science, audio-visual, and environmental clubs. She is currently the manager of the softball team.

Emily is the daughter of Nesha and Bill C. of Amelia. She will attend Hollins University in the fall.

Salutatorian for the class of 2018 is Brianna Kay G. As a student at the Academy, Brianna has been active as a leader among her peers. She is a member of the National Honor Society and the Beta Club. Brianna has been a member of the Academy’s scholastic bowl team and was among the students representing the Academy at the Model United Nations program. This year, she serves as president of the Senior Class. Brianna has served as reporter and is the current treasurer for the Student Government Organization (SGO). Brianna has played volleyball and basketball on both the junior varsity and varsity teams.

Brianna is the daughter of Anita and Steve G. of Amelia. She will attend Liberty University next fall.

Other honor graduates are: John Henry B., Travis Michael B., Gillian Corin C., Daniel Evans E., Tyler Tsidkenu G., Caleb Daniel G., Kameron Gregory H., Allison Kaye J., Zumar Awari S., and Gabrielle Ashli S.

Baccalaureate Services will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church on Sunday, May 20 at 4:00 p.m. Guest speaker will be Jonathan Bowman, the leader of Amelia’s Young Life program. He will be assisted by Rev. Callie Jackson Walker, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church, also an Academy alumnus from the class of 1986.

Graduation exercises will be held on Thursday, May 24, at 7:00 p.m. in the school gymnasium. Guest speaker will be The Hon. Robert Lee Ware, Jr., who is a member of the Virginia House of Delegates, representing the 65the District.
