Lady Patriots Went 4-0 Last Week

2017, January 30 – The Amelia Academy Lady Patriots went 4-0 last week to improve their record to 20-2 overall and 7-0 in the VCC. The Lady Patriots dominated their opponents last week by a 46-point average margin of victory while averaging 78.5 points a game.

On Tuesday, Amelia Academy put up 36 points in the first quarter while holding Tidewater Academy to 2 points. They added 20 points in the second quarter to take a 56-12 lead at half in route to a 81-34 victory. Becca A. led the way with 21 points and Hannah F. had 15 points. Rachel A. had 14 points and 6 steals. Monica E. had 11 points, 6 steals and 5 assists. Abbi S. had 8 points and 6 rebounds. Madison B. had 6 points and 7 rebounds. Jessica M. had 2 points, 8 assists, 8 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 blocks. Elizabeth J. had 4 points.

On Wednesday, the Lady Patriots traveled to Virginia Episcopal School and claimed a 69-28 win. Monica led Amelia with 22 points, including 4 threes, 8 rebounds, 6 steals and 5 assists. Becca had 14 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. Abbi had 10 points, 20 rebounds and 5 blocks. Hannah added 9 points and 4 assists.

On Friday, Amelia Academy hosted BSH and again used a big offensive first quarter to take a 32-6 lead. They added another 22 points in the second quarter to take a 54-14 lead at half before getting the eventual 72-25 victory. Becca had 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 steals and Hannah added 14 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 assists. Monica had 12 points and 6 rebounds. Rachel had 11 points, 8 steals and 3 assists. Jessica had 6 points, 12 steals, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Abbi had 6 points, 7 rebounds and 3 blocks. Elizabeth added 4 points and 2 rebounds and Skylar W. had 4 points.

On Saturday, Fredericksburg Academy came to Amelia Academy and actually had a 14-13 lead before the Lady Patriots got things going to take a 21-14 lead into the second quarter. They outscored FA 22-10 in the second quarter to take a 43-24 into the halftime break. The Lady Patriots came out running in third quarter and outscored FA 27-7 to put the game away. Hannah led the Lady Patriots with 22 points, 7 assists and 5 steals in their 92-43 victory. Becca had 19 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals and Rachel had 16 points. Monica had 9 points, 10 rebounds, 9 steals and 3 assists. Abbi had 9 points, 11 rebounds and 6 blocks. Jessica had 6 points, 8 steals, 3 assists and 3 rebounds. Elizabeth and Skylar added 4 points respectively. Madison had 3 points, 4 rebounds and 2 blocks.

The Lady Patriots, ranked #1 in the VIS D3 state poll last week, are scheduled to host Brunswick Academy on Tuesday in their lone game this week. They will host Kenston Forest on Tuesday, February 7, for Senior Night for Becca, Rachel and Abbi. They will travel to Richmond Christian on Friday, February 10.
