Two AA Volleyball Players Receive State Recognition

photo2017, January 2 – After an incredible 2016 Varsity Volleyball season at Amelia Academy, Rebecca A. and Jessica M. received state recognition from VISAA Division III. These ladies are two of the fifteen players recognized in our state division.

Rebecca received all-state first team. As a right and middle hitter, Rebecca served up 206 aces, 56 more than any other player in the VISAA Division III. She racked up 336 kills for the season. She also plays all around and for defense ranked third in the state with 343 digs.

Jessica received all-state second team. As the setter for our team, Jess assisted 683 kills, ranking her fourth in the state. Jessica ranked ninth in the state with 231 digs. She also scored with 104 aces.

The 2016 Lady Patriots finished the season undefeated in the Virginia Colonial Conference with a record of 17-0, winning the VCC Season and Tournament Championship. They went on to finish fourth overall in the VISAA Division III standings with a 30-3 season record.
