2016, December 12 – The Amelia Academy Lady Patriots remained undefeated with two road wins last week. On Tuesday, December 6, they traveled to Madison Heights and defeated Temple Christian 71-38. The Lady Patriots jumped out to a commanding 36-3 lead after the first quarter and led 50-15 at half. The second half took on a much slower pace on both ends of the floor and Amelia Academy left with the 71-38 victory.

Senior Becca A. led the Lady Patriots with 22 points (including 4 threes), 10 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals. Senior Rachel A. had 12 points, including 2 threes. Junior Monica E. had 11 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Junior Brianna G. added 8 points, including 2 threes. Junior Hannah F. had 6 points, 7 assists, 6 rebounds and 4 steals. Senior Abbi S. had 6 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals. Freshman Madison B. had 4 points and 6 rebounds and junior Jessica M. had 2 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists to round out the scoring for Amelia Academy.

On Friday, December 9, the Lady Patriots got their seventh win of the season at Millwood School by a score of 66-34. Again Amelia Academy used a strong first quarter to take a 23-8 lead after the first quarter and continued the onslaught with a 39-15 advantage at half. Becca recorded a triple-double with 18 points, 19 rebounds and 11 assists, as well as 5 steals. Monica had 15 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals. Hannah had 10 points, including 2 threes, 6 rebounds and 2 assists. Abbi had 7 points, 14 rebounds and 4 steals. Rachel had 5 points and 3 assists. Brianna had 4 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals and Madison had 4 points, 3 rebounds, 2 blocks and 2 assists. Jessica had 3 points, 5 steals, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks.

The Lady Patriots are now 7-0 on the season and are off until December 27 when they will participate in the Clover Hill Christmas Tournament. They will play Meadowbrook High School at 2:30 pm. On December 28, they will play Clover Hill at 5:30 pm and Matoaca High School at 2:30 pm on December 29.
