Amelia Academy Volleyball Wins VCC Championship

2016, November 7 – The Amelia Academy varsity volleyball team clinched the Virginia Colonial Conference Tournament Championship on Saturday, November 5, beating Southampton Academy 3–0. The Lady Patriots were also the 2016 Season Champs going undefeated in the VCC.

The Lady Patriots came out strong defeating Southampton 25-14, 25-10, and 25-16. Rebecca A. had an amazing 17 kills and 4 aces. Jessica M. assisted an incredible 30 kills, had 1 ace, and 1 kill. Hannah F. had 8 aces, 1 block, and 5 kills. Brianna G. had 2 aces, 1 assist, and 8 kills. Madison B. had 1 ace, 1 block, and 4 kills. Rachel A. added an assist and a kill. Defensively, the Lady Patriots had 60 successful digs and 34 successful serve receptions providing our fans with an extraordinary offensive and defensive show.

On Saturday after the championship game, VCC season and tournament awards were presented. Rebecca A. received the VCC Tournament Most Valuable Player award and was named All-Academic and First Team All-Conference for the season. Jessica M. and Hannah F. were named to the VCC All-Tournament Team and the First Team All-Conference for the season.

The Lady Patriots are ranked fourth in the state and will play a home game on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. in the quarterfinals of the VISAA Division III tournament.
