Amelia Academy

Welcome Back!

2016, August 8 – To adopt a theme used in a back-to-school commercial, “It’s the most wonderful time of the year.” Of course, Amelia Academy is back in session this month and everyone associated with our school is ready for an exciting time. The administration, faculty, and staff of the Academy wish to welcome both our returning students and new students to the 2016-2017 school year. The academic term begins on Wednesday, August 17, and we will continue this endeavor through until Graduation night, Thursday, May 25, 2017. This will prove to be an eventful year, as are all school years. We ask the Amelia community and Academy patrons to refer to our yearly calendar for all upcoming events. We encourage our patrons and student body to prepare for what promises to be a very eventful year.

Over the past several years, we have added programs that have enhanced our status with colleges and universities. This year is no different. In addition to last year’s added courses in Physics and the Pipe and Drum Corps, we will establish for this year Equine Studies, place renewed emphasis on SAT Preparation, Theater and Forensics, and also our Shop offerings. We have also instituted a new dress code and cell phone policy this year, much to the delight of area residents who will recognize the Academy student. We are prepared and motivated in order to make this school year the best we can have. Our goals are both ever-changing but with one over-arching theme…to provide the best education possible to our patrons and students. With an insurgence of new educators (ready to apply their skills) added to an already outstanding group of educators, Amelia Academy is ready and eager to further elevate our youth.

There are many ways students, patrons and friends of our school can take an active role in school life. The Student Government Organization will be counted on to lead the student body and provide initiative on the campus. Class officers will be expected to lead by example. Many organizations and clubs will be student-led and driven. Students will be involved in meaningful community service projects in order to give back to a community that has given our school so much. We are determined to have our students emerge as leaders in our community.

Once again, it is with great enthusiasm that I welcome everyone back. With the support of the community, this school will preserve its stature and maintain its reputation for academic excellence. On behalf of the faculty and staff of Amelia Academy, I welcome all of you to the 2016-2017 school year. We are all grateful to you for entrusting your student’s education to us.

Sincerely,

Rodney Taylor
Head of School
