2014, Feb 27 – The #7 Patriots had a heart-breaking 59-55 loss to #2 Christ Chapel Academy Wednesday in the VISAA Division III quarterfinals. Unlike our January loss to CCA, this game was a nail-biter – close from start to finish. Kevin scored 22 points, had seven rebounds and five assists. Nikola scored 14 point, had 10 rebounds and was 100% two games in a row at the foul line. Marko scored 12 points and had five rebounds. Azuolas had five points, seven rebounds and four assists. Holt scored two points. The Patriots finished the season with a 24-7 record and a VCC title!!! The Lady Patriots also had a loss on Wednesday to #4 Roanoke Catholic in the quarterfinals of the state championships. They finish the season with a 16-7 record and a VCC title!!!

Academy Basketball Teams Advance to the VISAA Division III State Quarterfinals

2014, Feb 26 – The #5 Lady Patriots won 61-43 against #12 Broadwater Academy. Stacey led with 16 points. Tori scored 12 points and had 8 rebounds. Rickylyn scored 11 points. Chelsea added 9 and had 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Rachel had 8 rebounds.
    The #7 Patriots won 73-54 against #10 Life Christian Academy. Nikola had 26 points, 17 rebounds and 7 assists. Kevin had 17 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Marko had 17 points and 8 rebounds. Zee had 10 points and 11 rebounds.
    The Lady Patriots head to #4 Roanoke Catholic this evening. The Patriots will play #2 Christ Chapel at 7 p.m.

Don’t Worry About Dinner – Come on Out to Support the Teams

2014, Feb 24 – The Amelia Academy Café will be selling BBQ sandwiches with baked beans and coleslaw, including a drink (water, tea or soda) for $7/plate before and during the games on Tuesday, February 24. Other concessions will be sold as well. So don’t worry about dinner and come on out to support the Amelia Academy Varsity Basketball teams as they play in the first round of the state tournament. The café will begin serving at 5 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the athletic program.

AA Teams Play at Home in the First Round of the VISAA State Basketball Championship Tournament for Division III

2014, Feb 23 – The Amelia Academy Varsity Basketball teams will play in the first round of the VISAA State Tournament at home on Tuesday, February 25. The #5 seeded Lady Patriots will face #12 Broadwater Academy and the #7 seeded Patriots will play #10 Life Christian.

   It's a "white-out" night so wear your white and come on out to cheer on the Lady Patriots at 5:30 p.m. and the Patriots at approximately 7 p.m.

AA Varsity Teams Win VCC Tournament Championships

2014, Feb 23 – The #3 seeded Lady Patriots take the VCC Tournament Championship from #1 seeded Richmond Christian 54-51 in overtime. Tournament Champs. Way to go ladies! Stacey scored 16 points. Kristen and Rachel each scored 11 points. Rickylyn and Chelsea scored 6 points each and Rebecca and Tori added 2 points each.
    VCC Tournament Champs for the Patriots as well! #1 seeded AA beat #2 seeded Fuqua School with a final score of 72-63. Kevin had 18 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Azuolas had 18 points and 4 assists. Marko had 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Nikola had 14 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists.
    States, here we come!

2014, Feb 22 – The #3 Lady Patriots upset #2 Fuqua School with a 57-39 win in the VCC Tournament semifinals on Friday, February 21. Stats from the Lady Patriots semifinal game: Stacey scored 18 points and had 9 rebounds. Chelsea added 16 points and had 10 rebounds. Rachel scored 8 points and had 3 blocks. Tori scored 7 points and had 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Rebecca scored 4 points. Rickylyn scored 2 points and had 8 assists. Kristen scored 2 points. Congratulations ladies!

   The VCC Tournament finals will be held at Richard Bland College on Saturday, February 22, with the Lady Patriots playing #1 Richmond Christian at 6 p.m. and the Patriots playing #2 Fuqua School at 8 p.m.

Nikola had 8 points and 11 rebounds. Great job Patriots!

AA Teams Faced Richmond Christian on Thursday

2014, Feb 6 – The Amelia Academy Varsity Patriots defeated the Warriors on Thursday with a final score of 84-58. Kevin scored 30 with Marko adding 17 points. The Middle School Lady Patriots won 30-4. Congratulations!

Patriots Defeat Kenston Forest School on Tuesday

2014, Feb 4 – Our Varsity Lady Patriots defeated the Lady Kavaliers 50-47 in the final seconds on Tuesday night. The Varsity Patriots also won 74-57. Although the middle school teams did not pull out a win, they played well. Kudos to middle school boys Caleb G. for scoring 19 points and pulling down 22 rebounds for the Patriots. Way to go Caleb!
